Margaret's Teams Up with The Princess Project San Diego, California, January 15, 2009 — Prom season is right around the corner and Margaret's Cleaners is helping young women in Southern California by working with The Princess Project San Diego. The Princess Project is a non-profit organization that provides free prom dresses and accessories to high school girls who otherwise couldn't afford them. Margaret's Cleaners is now the Southern California drop-off site for your tax-deductible donations of gently used dresses and accessories. The Princess Project collects formal dresses and accessories from women, girls, and companies throughout Southern California, and distributes them free of charge to girls at fun-filled events in the spring. Since The Princess Project began serving Bay Area girls in 2002, over 9,000 girls have received dresses and accessories. Now this opportunity is available to deserving high school girls in Southern California through its new association with Margaret's Cleaners. In 2009 The Princess Project expects to serve 3,000 California girls through its spring giveaway events in San Francisco, Silicon Valley, the East Bay, and now in San Diego. Girls are expected to honestly determine their own need and must have a valid high school ID in order to be admitted to an event. “Every young girl wants to go to the prom, but today's economy can make that challenging for many local families,” said Anne Richardson, co-founder of The Princess Project San Diego. “By pooling resources, reaching out to local individuals and working with generous retailers, The Princess Project can help girls feel like royalty, even just for a day.” To make a donation to The Princess Project San Diego simply bring in your fashionable formal, gently used dresses to any of Margaret's Cleaners locations and pick up your donation receipt. We take dresses in all lengths, sizes, fabrics and colors.
